Doggy left outside of shelter with a sad note and tears in her eyes; soon she will hear good news.

When dogs are left behind, it’s always very sad, and you can often see the pain on the dog’s face.

Lucky for us, there are also kind people who are willing to give these animals a second chance. That’s what happened to one puppy whose life got better after being abandoned at a shelter.

It was last week that the Pennsylvania SPCA found a five-month-old Cane Corso/pit mastiff puppy tied to a pole outside their Baltimore office.

She only got a note that said, “Good Puppy.” Broken House. Do not have a name.

A Facebook post said that the dog looked healthy, but she had discharge from her eyes that “made her look like she had been crying.”

It was so sad that we had to wipe the tears from her eyes, the SPCA wrote.

“We felt terrible about her. She was so scared… This sweet girl was probably only known one family until she was five months old.

“But now she was safe with us.”

The dog’s name at the SPCA was “Minerva.” People at the shelter wanted to do everything they could to give her the second chance she deserves, even though she was scared and sad.

Thank goodness things got better for sweet Minerva quickly. The SPCA said in an update on May 10 that Minerva had been adopted!

The happy ending made everyone very happy. Someone wrote in the post, “Congratulations to beautiful Minerva and her equally beautiful forever family.” “Thank you so much for taking this sweet baby in and making her feel so welcome.”

“Wow, look at those happy faces!” Someone else wrote. “You’re wonderful!” She’s going to be spoiled! Don’t cry there anymore!”

That’s a good ending for Minerva, but this isn’t the only case like it. A shocking number of dogs just like her are being left at the shelter. The SPCA wants people to think about adopting.

The Pennsylvania SPCA wrote, “We are seeing a rise in the number of dogs left on our property.” “The number of owner surrenders is going up.” Adoptions have slowed down a lot, which may go without saying.

“Every day dogs like Minerva come in.” We are saving animals from being hurt or ignored. They were left behind, but we are saving them. And we believe with all our hearts that loving families will come to adopt.

It breaks our hearts that so many dogs are left behind like this, but we’re glad Minerva has a great new home where she won’t have to cry again ❤️
