When Cinnamon, a Pitbull female, was dumped at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control shelter in North Carolina, she was devastated.
She had been left without her pups and every time someone stopped to talk to her, her eyes filled with tears.
This sad Pitbull mom caught the attention of a volunteer, who then decided to film a short video of her and post it on Facebook.
Less than 48 hours later, Cinnamon’s life had completely changed.

One day, friendly volunteer Sarah Jennings Sleime visited the shelter.
She saw Cinnamon sitting upright with a slumped posture, almost like a human.
Sarah felt the sadness in Cinnamon’s eyes and realized she had been a mother for a short time.
“It was abundantly clear that she had recently had puppies and was devastated because her puppies were not with her,” Sarah told us.
Video on social media
Unable to ignore Cinnamon’s heartbreaking situation, Sarah decided to film a short video and share it on Facebook.
The video was viewed 1 million times within 48 hours and 20,000 people shared the video. The video showed Cinnamon’s tears and touched the hearts of many.

Meghan Connor Shelton, a friend of Sarah’s from Charlotte, North Carolina, saw the video of Cinnamon and felt a connection.
“I have a special place in my heart for pit bulls. I think they’re a very misunderstood dog and a misunderstood breed. And when I saw her in that video, literally crying in a pen, I cried. My kids cried. I showed it to my husband and he said we could go see her tomorrow,” Meghan said.
Love at first sight
The next morning, Meghan’s family, including their 3-year-old Pitbull, paid a visit to Cinnamon.
Touched by Cinnamon’s tears, Meghan and her family decided to adopt her.
“She touched our hearts,” Meghan said.
The family filled out the paperwork and when Cinnamon, now Rosie, was spayed, they took her home.
Unexpected friendship

Rosie’s arrival brought concerns about her past and whether she would get along with the other dog.
To everyone’s surprise, the two dogs sat wagging side by side.
They quickly became friends and enjoyed each other’s company as if they had always known each other.
Rosie’s character

As Rosie felt more at home, her personality emerged.
The family discovered a peculiar trait – when excited, Rosie snorts like a pig, bringing laughter and joy to the household.
Rosie’s touching video not only ensured she got a home, but also helped many other dogs at the shelter find new homes.
“Small deeds have a big impact: Not only was this sweet dog, Cinnamon, adopted the next morning, but other families who came to adopt her saved other dogs at the shelter, freeing up kennels for stray dogs and dogs that had been relinquished by their owners that would surely have been euthanized because the shelter is full,” Sleime said.
One simple video or photo can reach millions of people and change someone else’s life in a matter of seconds.
