Family stories that show how hard it can be to raise a daughter
As a daughter grows up, her grandparents keep telling her “she should act like a girl,” and boys at school make fun of her.
When she turns 13, she will… They are not the same thing. You should not let your daughter go on a first date with someone. Hold on, moms and dads of girls.
My daughter is 15 years old, but she looks a few years older than that. There are guys who ask her out on the street when we walk by. We agreed that if my daughter likes a guy, I will just stand next to them and listen while they talk.
He asked my daughter to go to the movies one time, and she said yes. I promised her that I would go on this first date with her. It didn’t bother her. When we got there, we saw the man who was interested in my daughter and his friend.
The suitor didn’t know I was her mother, so he brought a friend for me. The friend was a 17-year-old freshman in college who talked about video games and TikToks the whole time and tried to kiss me as we were leaving. My husband laughed so hard when he learned I was “on a date.” But my daughter liked that guy a lot, and they had fun together. © VK and Mamdarinka
While I was with my daughter today, I ran to feed her and change her clothes a few times. I heard her crying at one point and went downstairs to comfort her. I found my daughter sleeping.
This took place several times. I finally realized that I had thought my daughter was crying because I heard the sound of a circular saw working near my neighbors’ house. Thanks, mimimaus / Pikabu
In ninth grade, I took my dad’s good blue wool wedding suit, which he had kept hidden in the back of the closet for 15 years, took it out of its seams, and made it fit me better. When Dad got home from another business trip and saw me in my new suit, he couldn’t say a word. In his eyes, all you could see was pain from lost youth. I felt so sorry for him!
Men don’t talk about things like that, so I had no idea how important the suit was to him. He was sad, but not for long. Like any good parent, he forgot about his loss very quickly. Afterward, he let me change some of his other old clothes. My dad is great! This is TuxoTyT/Pikabu.
My daughter never goes to school hungry because I always pack her a lot of food. I found a lot of small bills in her backpack not long ago. When I asked her why she wasn’t spending her pocket money, she told me she was selling my sandwiches to her friends!
I’m amazed at what a businesswoman she is! “Mum, you give me too much food. I only eat one sandwich and sell the rest,” she says. I’m putting money away for a new doll. Are you crazy?” Wow! © VK and Mamdarinka
We had kids when we were young. My daughter suffocated me since her father died when she was 22 years old. After college, she got a job close to me, comes to my house every day, has pretty much moved in (she hasn’t lived with me since she was 18), and tries to keep me safe from everything.
It’s been two years, and neither she nor I have had anyone outside of work. I try to get her to make plans to travel or go on a date. She screams back, “I’m doing this for you!” You can’t do it by yourself!” I’m 43 years old, I have a job, and I’m healthy. I’m lost. Overheard or Idear
