I should get my son’s money, not his mother-in-law.
When a mother feels disconnected from her child, especially when money problems make the situation worse, the emotional turmoil she goes through can be very deep. Ruth has to deal with a tough situation because her son has changed the way he helps pay for things to benefit his mother-in-law. She is sure that she deserves her son’s support more and has come to us for help.
Ruth’s letter:
“I lost my husband and am no longer fit to work.” For rent, my son gives me some money every month from his own money.
My daughter-in-law rudely told me yesterday, “From now on, we won’t help you because my husband’s money is also my money.” To my horror, she said, “My mom has been in bad shape lately, and we need that money to send her to a health spa and also have her do some physiotherapy sessions.”
My daughter-in-law stays at home and takes care of the kids. She has never worked and takes care of my grandchildren. I deserve this money more than her mother because it’s my son’s. I do not care if her mom needs to get in better shape and take better care of her health.
What should I do?
Sincerely,
Ruth”
