A sweet two-year-old goes to the animal shelter and picks out a sick, shy pit bull that needs love.

There are lots of dogs in shelters, and they all want the same thing: to find homes where they can stay forever. It may take longer for some people than for others, though.

A lot of dogs are turned down by people who want to adopt them because of their breed, age, looks, or health problems. Often, younger, cuter puppies are preferred.

But every once in a while, someone kind comes along and lets these dogs in. An adorable 2-year-old girl picked out a pit bull from all the dogs in the shelter to be that kind person.

Adra Spurio took her 2-year-old daughter to the shelter to adopt a dog, but she didn’t think her daughter would be interested in a sick and scaly pit bull. But the little girl insisted because she knew the dog needed some love and care.

According to Audra, her daughter was most interested in meeting her than any other dog at the shelter that day. There was a dog that “stunk like mange,” but the little girl kept saying, “Mommy, that one.”

“Let the dog out.” She said, “I need help.”

The girl’s wish came true when Gigi took the pit bull outside to play. The dog was scared and shy, but the kid was always kind and patient with it.

The dog’s conditions would have “grossed out” most kids, but Gigi only saw a friend who needed her help.

As they played outside, the girl patted the dog on the back and kissed it. It was clear that they were instantly close.

Audra said, “I saw this scared dog melt in G’s hands.” “My daughter wouldn’t leave her side.”

After the pit bull was put back in her crate, Gigi kept pleading with her mom to let them take the dog home to care for her. The two-year-old says, “Sick dog, go home.”

The girl’s wish came true, thank goodness. She fell in love with the sick pit bull more than any other dog in the shelter that day. The dog, whose name is now Scarlett, is now in her new home.

“Scarlett is home now and feels a lot better,” Audra told The Dodo. “She still can’t take her eyes off of G.”

Nearly 14 million people have watched the cute story on YouTube, and many have commented that Gigi’s kindness toward animals has given them hope for the future.

What a kind and sweet kid. We’re so happy that Scarlett found a great home and someone to love and care for her.
