This blond dog was admitted to Companion Animal Alliance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with severe cigarette burns.

“He was also the only dog in the shelter that didn’t bark,” Neil’s new owner told me.

At the shelter, Neil was a traumatized dog who needed some time to adjust to the new circumstances, but his life soon took an unexpected turn!

The boy and his mother arrived at the shelter to pick out a dog and that’s when they saw Neil.

Despite his difficult past, this sweet pit bull mix showed no sign of aggression and he was so gentle with the woman’s son.

The shelter offered exclusive adoptions for $15 in an effort to promote animal rescue.

According to his mother, the boy, who desperately wanted a dog for himself, saved up his pocket money and paid the adoption fees for the dog himself.

The three of them went home and Neil started a totally new life, but what happened after his arrival melted everyone’s hearts!
